Bid Specifications:

The ENERJOY® radiant heating panel shall be constructed of insulated Solid State Heating element. The element shall be backed with one-inch thick, high density, odorless fiberglass board, faced with a white fine textured aluminum face and framed in aluminum. Panels shall reach the full surface temperature in five minutes. Radiant output shall be 95% of input energy. Panels shall be listed under UL Standard 2021 – Fixed and Location-Dedicated Electric Room Heaters. Panel shall meet or exceed FHA/HUD Minimum Property Standards.

Design Guidelines:

1-  Determine panel size by selecting a balanced combination of Enerjoy PEOPLEHEATERS to cover 10% of the ceiling surface.

2-  Design symmetrical Heatmodule placement in the same way you locate lights to illuminate a room, recognizing areas of high heat loss and special comfort areas.

3-  Take full advantage of the broad dispersion of radiant energy emanating at up to an 80° angle from the Heatmodule surface. It is all right to over size by using identical heatmodules to attain symmetry even though the sizing chart calls for unequal or smaller units. ( the sizing increase or decrease determines cycle frequency - how quick the thermostat setpoint is satisfied.)

Rule-of-Thumb for calculating the
quantity and size of the panels for your application
suggested for an 8' ceiling:

  • Select a geometrically pleasing design..

  • Allow a 2’ to 4’ setoff from exterior walls.

  • Figure approximately two times the setoff distance between heat modules

Bath 7 Watts per square foot
Living Room or Corner Offices 6 Watts per square foot
Dens, Offices, Dining Rooms,
Corner Bedrooms:
5 Watts per square foot
Kitchen or Middle Bedrooms: 4 Watts per square foot

Wiring Note:  Existing 20 amp 120V lighting circuits may serve Enerjoy 1 Heatmodules

Insulation note:  Insulate floor above basement or crawl space.

 Additional Guidelines:

Supplemental Heating:  basements and super-insulated houses – Use (1) 24RP for each 100 square feet of space – approx. 3-4 W/SF

 Cathedral ceilings or 14’ ceilings:

For 12’ peak (avg. 10’), increase heat panel area by 25% (Example, use 28 RP instead of 26 RP)
For 16’ peak (avg. 12’), increase heat panel area by 50%

Split-Level: add one watt per square foot

Fireplaces, sliders or skylights:  add one watt per square foot.

Replace Old, Inaccurate Bimetal Thermostats

Always install new, accurate ENERJOY TSSHC-2 radiant sensing thermostats with ENERJOY PEOPLEHEATERS. Other electric heat thermostats generally are calibrated based upon maximum load. The temperature cycle range is uncomfortable and wastes energy because occupants choose a higher set point in their quest for comfort.

ENERJOY thermostats have a 1° F temperature differential, are sealed against corrosion, totally silent, and are available in both light {TSSHC-2L (<8 amp)} and heavy {TSSHC-2H(>8 amp)} load calibration. Light-sensing, programmable, automatic setback and tamperproof thermostats are available.

WIRING NOTE:

The low amperage requirements for ENERJOY PEOPLEHEATERS can usually be provided by existing 120 or 240 Volt circuits. The 30%-70% wattage reduction over convection electric heating eliminates the need for dedicated wiring. Wherever a single ENERJOY heatmodule is specified, existing 120-Volt capacity circuit is usually adequate for the additional load.

Dimensions

Installation

INSTALLATION of the multi-sized panels is as easy as installing an electric light fixture
          * Mounted on the surface or -
            * Flush Mounted or -
            * In a suspended ceiling grid or -
            * Freely suspended.

Painting, over spraying with water base paint or acoustical material, or framing creates the desired aesthetic effect.

Penetrable Surface Mounting (sheetrock) (Fig. 1)-
(check for bag of hole plugs)

  1. Insure adequate clearance hole in center for module connection box.
  2. Install connection box to back of module using the pre-positioned screws.
  3. Connect the power supply conductors to the module leads in the connection box.
  4. Position on ceiling, holding module in place.
  5. Punch or drill (¼" max.) through the module frame holes into the ceiling to provide a hole for the screw/anchor assembly, or mark holes for drill.

Insert installer provided screw/anchor assembly into the ceiling, and tighten into place. Insert plastic caps to close frame screw holes.

T-Bar Mounting (Fig. 2)

  1. Install connection box to back of module using the two pre-positioned screws.
  2. Lay the module carefully onto the T-Bar grid and secure with installer provided hold-down clips if necessary.
  3. Connect the power supply conductors to the module leads in the module connection box.

This is a description of a major benefit of using the product.

Impenetrable Surface Mounting - RPD model (Concrete) (Fig. 3)

  • Assemble Wiremold junction box and rear plate and attach to the side of the panel frame with the provided hardware.
  • Position panel and junction box assembly onto ceiling to mark the location of the panel and junction box mounting holes.
  • Drill holes (3-1/16" dia., 1-1/4" deep) at each mark and insert anchors into drilled holes.
  • Hold the panel and junction box assembly to the ceiling; insert screw completely through large frame hole and screw securely through small frame hole into anchor.
  • Bring Wiremold raceway through appropriate knockout of panel junction box.
  • Connect the power supply conductors to the panel leads: Attach the grounding conductor to the provided ground clip.
